Menashe Kadishman was born in Tel-Aviv in 1932 and is one of the most important Israeli artists of today. He studied sculpting with Moshe Sternschuss (1947 - 1950) and Rudi Lehmann (1954) and then went to London where he enrolled at the St. Martin’s School of Art and Design. Kadishman returned to Israel in 1972 where he was awarded the Dizengoff Prize for sculpture in 1990 and the Israel Prize for sculpture in 1995.
